December 21, 2009

Shortly after 1:00 AM EST the votes were cast, toppling in disgrace one of the most important institutions in the history of democracy. In the dead of night, on Christmas week, 58 democratic and 2 self declared independent members of The United States Senate, voted for Cloture to end “debate” on Barack Obama’s healthcare takeover bill.
The most far reaching piece of legislation in 50 years, which will significantly impact the lives every American citizen, was drafted in secrecy by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in conjunction with aides from the White House. The time allotted for debate of the 2,000+ page bill, that only a handful of the senators had even seen and none had read, was less than 48 hours.
In a slavish manner reminiscent of the once illustrious senators of the ancient Roman Republic who were eventually reduced to puppet status under the Roman emperors, the 60 votes were cast without regard for the best interests of the country, the will of the people, or personal integrity. Their emperor wanted it done by Christmas.

The President IS The Problem
December 7, 2009
Obamanomics undermines growth and hiring
With the nation’s unemployment rate rising steadily above 10%, it was time for another one of President Obama’s symbolism over substance “summits”.
Thursday’s Job Summit followed the standard summit format. A dramatic opening address by the president, followed by the summit attendees disappearing into conference where they were photographed brainstorming at the president’s behest. The following day, in a carefully orchestrated “town hall” meeting, Mr Obama will declare the summit a success, but warn that everyone will have to be patient on results.
Very patient. Because every economic policy President Barack Obama has implemented completely contravenes the tried and true policies that have ended recessions in the past. And the president’s announced plans for the future have employers large and small scared witless.

Running Up The White Flag
December 3, 2009
Another “new direction” for America. They win. We lose
Commander And Chief President Barack Obama issued his terms for surrender to the Taliban in Afghanistan last night. The Taliban has 18 months to throw down their arms, disband their forces and return to their villages and begin living as good, peace loving Afghani civilians ought to live. And if the Taliban won’t even listen to a Nobel Peace laureate, well forget it then. Commander And Chief Obama is pulling US troops out.
These terms are surely no surprise to the Taliban. The president said in July that he didn’t envision a military victory in Afghanistan. The Taliban, in fact, may have a completely different view of which side will be running up the white flag come July, 2011.
Eschewing the standard venue of the Oval Office, the nation’s foremost political campaigner instead utilized cadets at the US Military Academy at West Point as props while delivering a contradictory, muddled address to nation which made little sense, even to his lap dogs in the media. This much, however, is certain. More America soldiers will die at the hands of Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorist fighters over the next eighteen months. And then America will give up. They win. We lose.

Politics At Any Cost
November 20, 2009
“Political purity” will ultimately triumph over pure politics
OMSNBC and CNN political commentators and “strategists” are having trouble containing themselves. Well known as mouth pieces for the Obama Ministry Of Propaganda, Maddow, Shultz, and Sanchez seem overwhelmed with glee extolling a “civil war” within the GOP. Right wing extremists they shout are purging the party of moderate voices of reason. Such “political purity”, Matthews and Richard Wolfe preach, will doom any republican hopes for the future. They’re all rooting for the Christian conservative base to regain control of the GOP. The final nail.
The “political purity” conservatives wish to reestablish in the republican party, however, is nothing more than a return to principle over politics. And, historically, moderate and independent voters ultimately gravitate to candidates whose politics are rooted in principle while shunning candidates who abandon principle to politics at any cost.
And it is hard to think of an uglier, more bare faced example of politics over principle than the Obama administration’s choice to move the trials of five September 11 terrorists in NYC.

Diversify And Conquer

The Fort Hood body count can be laid at the doorstep of the distant left
Thirteen Americans, twelve soldiers of the US Army and one retired officer serving as civilian physician’s assistant, have lost their lives needlessly. Volunteers who were willing to pay the ultimate price on a foreign battlefield for our freedom and security, were instead slaughtered, unarmed, on an American military base in the state of Texas. Thirteen victims of one of the distant left’s favorite political weapons- “Diversity”

Changing Blue Into Red
November 5, 2009
Christie, McDonnell, and yes, Hoffman provide the template for GOP victories in 2010
President Obama kept his head down and his mind otherwise occupied on Tuesday night. Allegedly spurning the election returns, the president is said to have focused his attention on the Chicago Bulls game, perhaps relaxing with feet up, brewski in hand and enjoying a cigarette (yes HE smokes). Win or lose, he knew the Bulls were sure to look better than his other teams. Let the likely dispiriting news in NJ and VA go for the evening. Bad stuff for a giant ego. By tomorrow, the water boys and girls at MSNBC will have spun sewage into silk for their revered leader.
Elsewhere, dubious excuse for a RNC Chairman Michael Steele was certain to be watching the returns. And hopefully the obvious was finally beginning to sink in. The republican victories in NJ, VA and, yes, even the narrow loss by Conservative Party congressional candidate Doug Hoffman in NY 23, have provided the template for victories in 2010 and 2012. Conservative candidates win elections for the Republican Party. Even in deep blue Jersey.

Palin Power
October 31, 2009
Leading the Republican Party back home
A well known wife and mom has once again taken control of the national political debate by means of a few sentences posted on a Facebook page. On Oct 22, private citizen Sarah Palin began leading the Republican Party back home with her endorsement of Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over the republican establishment’s hand picked liberal choice, State Assembly Woman Dierdre Scozzafava, for the open congressional seat in NY’s 23rd District.
At the time, Hoffman was polling last in the three way race. Today Scozzafava threw in the towel, leaving NY republican big wigs and RNC National Chair Michael Steele sitting alone in their “big tent” wondering why no one showed up.
What passes for the republican leadership today, the Grand Old Panderers, just doesn’t seem to get. Or just doesn’t want to, despite the train wrecks of 2006 and 2008. Maybe, just maybe, the RNC needs to start listening to the voices of Main Street America, as reflected in the sentime

Barack Obama Retains His Amateur Standing
October 5, 2009
Dilettantes rarely succeed at the highest levels- unfortunately for America
Barack Obama retained his amateur standing on Friday when the International Olympic Committee just said no. Emphatically. Millions of remorseful Americans wish they had done likewise.
The Olympic Games offer amateur athletes the ultimate opportunity to test and hone their skills, competing against their peers. Conducting negotiations with the IOC for hosting a site for future Games, however, is strictly for seasoned professionals. Amateurs find themselves out of their depth and are sent packing before they can say “Wait! Oprah’s with me”.
On the day Senator Barack Obama announced his candidacy for president, he was a former state legislator, with barely two years in Washington, and not a shred of executive experience. An amateur. Barack Obama never seriously believed that he would become the democratic party’s nominee, let alone America’s 44th president. He knew he wasn’t qualified. His goal was to simply to garner enough primary votes to make it impossible for likely nominee Senator Hillary Clinton to deny him second spot on the democratic ticket.
But a series of not so funny things happened on the road to the White House, and the American people now find themselves footing trillions of dollars in tuition for President Barack Obama’s on the job training. He’s still just an amateur. And dilatants rarely succeed at the highest levels.

A Speech Riddled With, Uh, “Political Gamesmanship”
September 10, 2009
The President’s healthcare assertions simply do not match the facts
Congressional democrats and the nation’s progressives have become suddenly overwhelmed with a new sense of decorum and civility. Must be a change in the air.
The same congressmen and senators who booed, hissed and hollered “untrue” during George W Bush’s joint session speech on the critical state of Social Security are now mortified at the thought of a solitary member of congress openly challenging the veracity of a presidential assertion. The progressive talk show hosts and bloggers who slandered Bush’s character and integrity, with every insult and obscenity they conjure up, now express shock that the word “liar” would enter America’s political discourse.
Conservatives are, however, expected to exhibit a higher degree of dignity than liberals and progressives. So Congressman Joe Wilson’s interruption of President Obama was inappropriate, and his apology entirely in order.
That said, Mr Obama’s statement “The reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally”, like many of his assertions regarding “healthcare reform”, was cloaked in Clintonese. Not technically an outright falsehood, but plenty of gray area in which to maneuver.
And when President Obama’s statements flat out don’t equate with the facts, well it’s just good, old fashioned “Political Gamesmanship”

“Wish You’d Stop Bein’ So Good To Me, Cap’n”
August 30, 2009
Why are the democrats so insistent on “giving us” government healthcare?
Government controlled healthcare would seem to be a clear debacle for the democrats. Since the push to pass Obamacare began, massive protests have swept the country. The president’s Gallup approval numbers have dropped 11 points to 50%, while disapproval has climbed to 42%. Approval ratings for Nancy Pelosi and the democratic congress have dropped to 31%, lower than their despised evil incarnate republican Dick Cheney.
Obamacare clearly smacks of political suicide for anyone willing to join the president in forcing the toxic potion of government controlled healthcare down the throats of a kicking and screaming electorate.
Yet that is exactly what the top echelon of the “party of the people” clearly intends to do. Even without complete support of the democratic majorities in the House and Senate. Whether by “reconciliation” or some other cloak room parliamentary maneuver, the gradual government takeover of medical care in America will begin this year.
For our own good.
