Liberal Racial Hypocrisy Is No “Game Change”

Conservatives are wasting time on the Reid nonsense

harry-reid-good-government1It almost seems as if the conservative talk show circuit has shut down. Disastrous healthcare legislation negotiations being conducted in secrecy at the White House? President Obama’s imminent plans for global warming tax mandates and amnesty for illegal aliens? Congress drooling over the prospect of another earmark laden bogus stimulus bill? Barely a peep.

Right now the only news seems to be the old news. Liberals are hypocrites on race and free speech. Who would have ever thought?

Conservatives and republicans seem obsessed with the newly released political “exposé”, Game Change, by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. Among the many non-bombshells included in this opus of gossip is that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made a racially insensitive remark about aspiring presidential candidate Barack Obama. The “news”, and apparent basis for outrage, is that the democrats aren’t going to do anything about. Most liberals are, in fact, actually defending Reid.

Liberal hypocrisy, on anything however, is actually the oldest news somehow still surviving as “news”. And for some reason conservative talk show hosts are wasting precious airtime broadcasting it.

The example of hypocrisy cited most frequently in the talk show boil overs is the Trent Lott incident. In 2002, Republican Senate Majority Lott was forced to resign his leadership position for a “racially insensitive remark” made at a 100th birthday party celebration for retiring SC Senator Strom Thurmond. Thurmond was a former segregationist. Referring to Thurmond’s 1948 presidential bid, Lott suggested in a kindly way that maybe the country would have gone on for the better had Thurmond been successful.

Though Lott had said nothing about race, after 24 hours of liberal translation the off hand remark was rebroadcast as Lott’s longing for a segregated America. Democrats, led by pious Harry Reid no less, demanded Lott resign as Majority Leader. Just for a start.

Lott had no good reason to resign and stated his intention to remain in his position. The democrats, however, were not the ones to do Lott in. Lott was thrown under the lib bus by renowned conservative President George W Bush, who pushed him into relinquishing his post.

So now conservative talk show hosts and bloggers are all aghast that President Obama, the democratic congress and the usual suspects in the media aren’t “doing the right thing”. So what? Drop it.

Just because G W disgraced himself in succumbing to pure demagoguery, doesn’t mean Barack Obama has to, or should, follow suit.

As for the hypocrisy, liberals have no shame, no common decency, when it comes to race. They are more than happy to wallow in the muck of racial exploitation with the likes of Al Sharpton any time they consider doing so to be to their slightest advantage. And the misanthropes in the leftist media will never call them on it. But, again, this is hardly news to anyone and there’s nothing to expose here.

And if conservatives and republicans start demanding that people lose their positions or be outright deprived of their livelihood for misspeaking or “being insensitive”, who’s wearing the hypocrite name badges then?

In this case, democrats are more than eager to keep the racial pot boiling, hoping to divert attention from the machinations of the man behind the curtain in the White House. So let’s quit helping them.

BTW
Among the further blockbusting exposés apparently revealed in Game Change are that Bill Clinton was likely having an affair during Hillary’s primary campaign, holier than thou John Edwards was cheating on his cancer stricken wife, and unnamed McCain staffers are blaming the “maverick’s” 2008 presidential implosion on Sarah Palin.

Woodward and Bernstein these guys ain’t. Pass on the book and donate the money.
