The Commission Made Me Do It

Obamanomics Phase II: Massive tax increases

obama-oval-office-feet-up“These are tough times and we can’t keep spending like they’re not…”

Is Barack Obama angling for a Nobel Prize for Bold Faced Effrontery? Or does our president simply believe, in his typical elitist manner, that the IQ of the average Joe in America is somewhere in the range of his bumbling, well below average Joe? Either way, Mr Obama’s announcement of the creation of a “debt commission” is yet another example of his Audacity Of Arrogance.

The purpose of this commission is “to try to restore reason to the fiscal debate and come up with answers”.

Audacity, though, doesn’t begin to describe this statement. During his first year in office, Barack Obama single mindedly turned the  “tough times” he inherited into sheer misery with the implementation of self-styled economic policies which defied all reason.

Massive spending bills and budgets now burden the nation with trillions of dollars of ruinous debt. His unprecedented government interventions into the private sector are undermining America’s free market economy. The president’s attempts to implement crippling healthcare and energy taxes, during a severe recession, were thwarted only by the country’s outrage.

Disastrous economic policies for America to be sure. But these seemingly inane policies have served President Barack Obama’s purposes quite nicely. The massive debt accumulated over the last year, the president’s teleprompter will read, now regrettably necessitates the implementation of tax increases. Significant, across the board tax increases which will be recommended by Barack Obama’s new National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.

And without such tax increases, our president will solemnly warn, the United States of America will simply begin to lose its credit worthiness. And, for once, he may be right.

The goal of Obamanomics
obama-gas-on-fireBut the perilous economic situation we find ourselves in has been brought about by presidential design. As pointed out in Obamanomics- The Key To The Socialist Revolution, Barack Obama has never intended to restore the free market economy America was built upon. Indoctrinated with the evils of capitalism throughout his life, Mr Obama is working to implement a socialist restructuring of the economy. The key to taking America in that “new direction” he envisions. A socialist society. And socialism thrives on government control of the economy, not on economic prosperity.

Phase I of Obamanomics is now complete. And the national debt is at such a critical level it may very well require first call on our nation’s assets. At the very least, that is what we will be told.

In Phase II, servicing and paying down this unsustainable debt will necessitate the redirection of business capital and personal wealth to Washington by way of those massive tax increases. Taxes that will progressively (”I am a progressive”- Hillary Clinton) erode personal income, savings and net worth, making a larger and larger cross section of America dependent upon government for retirement programs, healthcare and funding for higher education.

This is the socialist utopia liberals/progressives aspire to. A two tiered society where government, and those in government’s favor, stand in preeminence over a citizenry completely beholding to government for any “benefits” they may “qualify for”.

Stacking the deck
The debt commission/National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform has been carefully stacked to insure the desired results. The commission’s co-chairmen, former Clinton aide Erskine Bolls and former republican senator Alan Simpson, are bipartisan on the one and only crucial point. At least from the president’s perspective. Both have established records as proponents of high tax rates. Not surprisingly for Bolls, as a member of the Clinton White House. But few likely remember that the humorous Alan Simpson- “a good republican” per Mr Obama -was a major of opponent of the Regan tax cuts which ultimately brought the country out of the Carter recession.

The other two “deficit reduction” initiatives announced by President Obama are nothing more than dog and pony distractions from the sure to come tax increases.

PAYGO, Nancy Pelosi’s smoke and mirror bill whereby the federal government supposedly restricts spending to what is already “paid for”, and the president’s utterly bogus Spending Freeze, are both typically riddled with enough loopholes and exemptions to render both virtually meaningless. Both also come after the largest, most disgraceful and unproductive government spending spree in history.

obama-hope-for-a-changeThere were no commissions set up to carefully evaluate the earmark laded “Stimulus Package”. Passed, literally before those voting on the bill could read it, the Stimulus Package bore an upfront cost to tax payers of $787 billion. The ultimate true cost is estimated to be well over $1 trillion. Nor have any bipartisan commissions been asked to study the president’s massive “we’ll just print the money” budgets.

But now Barack Obama will attempt to insulate himself from the tax increases that have long been part and parcel of his “economic plan” for America. And when he signs those tax increases into law, punitive taxes the American people can little afford to pay, our president will portray himself as being forced by circumstances to do the unthinkable.
