To Pray For Tiller, Not To Praise Him

Late term abortionist Dr George Tiller praised as another “Martin Luther King”

pro-life-demostrationWe had not originally intended to comment on the slaying of infamous late term abortionist Dr George Tiller. The true pro-life community acted as one in pronouncing Tiller’s murder a heinous act that was an affront to God and pro-life principles. We joined other Christian pro-life advocacy groups in praying for Dr Tiller’s soul and his grieving family.

The murder was despicable and perpetuated by an obviously mentally ill man. And Dr Tiller was what he was. There simply did not seem to be much more to say.

But such an incident is apparently not destined to be put behind the nation quietly. To our surprise, and dismay, there were indeed people, including some lesser known talk radio hosts, applauding Tiller’s murder as legitimate defense of the unborn. Such mindless rhetoric, which overlooks the obvious contradiction of justifying murder in the defense of life, automatically disassociates (excommunicates if you will) such people from the true pro-life community.

Perpetuation of violence, to any degree, is counterproductive. The struggle to protect the lives of America’s unborn is being won in the arena of debate and ideas as people across the country gradually come to realize that abortion is not a women’s rights issue, but a civil rights/social justice issue. Despite the overwhelming pro-abortion stance of the entire Obama administration, polls now show that 51% of Americans consider themselves to be pro-life.

Roe v Wade is unconstitutional because it denies an entire group of citizens, America’s most helpless citizens, the fundamental right to life. And as America continues to open our collective hearts and minds to the horrible realities of what abortion really is, legal protection for the unborn will be achieved at the ballot box and in the courts.

The hard-care abortion lobby, Abortion Incorporated, however is determined to capitalize on Dr Tiller’s murder in order to increase the scope of unrestricted abortion on demand America.

In one of the “memorials” organized by Abortion Uber Alles radicals, George Tiller was actually elevated to the status of Dr Martin Luther King. Dr George Carhart, another late term abortionist, claimed that “This is the equivalent of Martin Luther King being assassinated“.

The King family was naturally quick to respond to Dr Carhart’s hideous comparison of an abortion profiteer like George Tiller to the nation’s civil rights icon. Dr Alveda King, Martin Luther King Jr’s niece stated “For LeRoy Carhart to mention the murder of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr, who worked through peaceful and non-violent means, in the same breath with that of George Tiller, whose work ended peace and brought violence to babies in the womb, is offensive beyond belief.”

In his “eulogy” Dr Carhart went on to equate pro-life advocates placing crosses in front of abortion clinics with the Ku Klux Klan burning crosses in the yards of African Americans. “I think there is absolutely no difference…”

olbermann-maddowRachel Maddow, of the little known NBC Affiliate MSNBC, is proclaiming any current common sense state restriction on abortion (parental notification, 48 waiting periods, ultra-sound pictures of the child about to be aborted) as “Terrorism Working“. Maddow’s MSNBC distant left compatriot Keith Olbermann, without a thread of logic, is attempting to weave the act of a mentally ill individual into a pro-life terrorist conspiracy.

The obvious purpose of this hysterical slandering of the pro-life cause is to provide pro-abortion legislators with the excuse to begin incrementally passing provisions of Freedom Of Choice Act, under the smoke screen of Tiller’s murder.

But the pro-life community, which as worked so hard, for so many years, to actually “reduce the number of abortions in America”, will not stand by and let that happen. Non-violence does not equate with pacifism in the struggle to save the lives of a million unborn children each year. The voices for life remain strong, unintimidated by the distant left and are clearly increasing in number.

Dr Tiller was someone to be prayed for. But he was not, in any sense, someone to be praised. That his killing will be shamelessly exploited by the likes of Abortion Incorporated should hardly come as surprise. Profiting from someone’s death is just business as usual.
