Prayers To End Abortion

Prayer is our most important weapon in the struggle to overcome abortion
Our focus this year is on the opportunity offered by the November elections to begin stemming the tide of abortion on demand in a truly significant way. President Obama’s ruthless pro-abortion agenda has focused the nation’s attention on abortion as never before, leading more and more Americans rethink their position on abortion. To this end we have been publishing a series of articles on Bringing Christians Home On Abortion.
This summer Father Frank Pavone of Priests For Life and Dr Alveda King will launch a series of Pro-Life Freedom Rides. “Like the Freedom Rides of five decades ago, these freedom rides symbolize the principle of the greater movement of which they are part, namely, that justice and equal protection of human rights belong to each and every human being, regardless of size or age or any other condition.” The first Pro-Life Freedom Ride is scheduled for July 23 thru 25, beginning in Birmingham, AL and ending in Atlanta. Active participation in events like the Pro-Life Freedom Rides, the semi-annual 40 Days For Life Campaigns and the annual March For Life in Washington is of tremendous importance in raising awareness of the plight of the hundreds of thousands of unborn children lost to the vacuums, surgical instruments and poisons of America’s abortion mills each year. Americans are drawn into the pro-life community and money is raised to fund pro-life organizations.
But there are only a few such events each year, and most of us are unable to actively participate. We all, however, have access the most powerful weapon available in our struggle to overcome abortion. Prayer.
Abortion is a powerful evil perpetrated by Satan, “a liar and the father of liars”. Evil of such depth, like the most powerful demons mentioned in the Gospels, “does not come out except by prayer and fasting”. Every person committed to bringing an end to abortion needs to make daily prayer the focal point of that commitment.
Numerous prayers to bring an end to abortion have been composed. We offer two, one by Father Frank Pavone and one of our own composition.

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son
I commit myself to doing my part in ending abortion and to being active in the pro-life movement
I will never to be silent, never to be passive, never stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected
And our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all

Radiant Cross Prayer To Overcome The Scourge Of Abortion
O’ God, in the Persons of the Most Holy Trinity, hear my prayer for Your Divine Assistance
In our struggle to overcome the scourge of abortion plaguing our nation
I pray to You Eternal Father
For the repentance and conversion of all those involved in the abortion industry
Including our public officials who enable and support abortion in our country
I ask Our Lord Jesus Christ to grant His compassionate forgiveness and merciful healing
To all who have repented of, and grieve for, their participation in abortion
I pray that the Holy Spirit may touch the souls of all women considering abortion
Fill them with a mother’s natural love and joy for the life they carry within
And open their eyes to all the horrible realities abortion entails
Grant, Almighty God, that the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus
May open the hearts and minds of those who have been misled on abortion
And bring all to the defense of Your unborn children
