Murder By Any Other Name…
August 13, 2010
Pro-choice Christians need to stop and reflect about what they are really saying
Shakespeare wrote “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet”. Politicians generally try to bring it down to our level with “if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck… etc.
We cannot change the inherent nature of a thing, or an act, by calling it something else. Yet that is exactly how our pro-choice Christian brothers and sisters try to reconcile their Faith and conscience with their support of abortion.
The religion of liberalism gradually devours the soul, deadens the heart and numbs the intellect. So much so, that on the life and death issue of abortion, many highly intelligent Christian liberals function as little more than cult members, reciting in robotic fashion the mantras of their leaders, without really comprehending what they say.
Witness the case in point of Anne Rice’s recent interview on the Joy Behar Show, following Rice’s “I quit Christianity” announcement on Facebook.
We discussed the following interview in our Christian Conservative Spectator article Liberalism Overpowers Anne Rice. We noted that Anne Rice appeared quite worn and to be a soul in turmoil, unable to reconcile the tenets of her Church with the religion that is liberalism. We recognized Anne’s deep love of Jesus and advised those truly concerned to simply allow her to find refuge in His healing arms.
Many of Anne Rice’s recent statements, however, must be responded to, such as her literally schizophrenic comments on abortion, which epitomize the self-delusion of many pro-choice Christians.
Several posts of this interview have been pulled from You Tube, or had the embedding code “disabled by request”. This, in fact, is our second version and might well disappear also, so we have included a transcript of the relevant points. The discussion on abortion begins at approximately the 3:00 point in the clip.
Behar, making no attempt to conceal her glee over Anne Rice’s repudiation of the Catholic Church in particular, Christianity in general, and everything and anything conservative, pushes Rice for having said “I myself am anti-abortion”.
Behar: “So you’re ‘anti-choice’ for other women, or just for yourself and your family? You would deny other the women the choice to have an abortion?”
Caught in the headlights, Rice immediately rushes to reinforce her liberal bona fides.
Rice: “I would not deny the choice. I certainly would not ever vote for abortion to be outlawed”
But how can anyone, especially with the intellect of an Anne Rice, then proceed to say with a complete lack of rationale
Rice: “I do think it’s the taking of a human life”
Ms Rice isn’t listening to what she is saying. Let’s go over it again.
“I do think it’s (abortion) the taking of a human life”. What exactly, Ms Rice, is the taking of a human life? The taking of a human life is Murder.
This then, stripped of all euphemism and liberal double talk, is the pro-choice Christian position on abortion as expressed by Anne Rice:
I do think that abortion is Murder. But I certainly would not ever vote for Murder to be outlawed.
In asking our Christian brothers and sisters to Come Home On Abortion, we ask here that on a personal, intellectual and spiritual level, you review your rationale for supporting the dismemberment, decapitation or poisoning of a completely helpless boy or girl.
Do you really believe that God views abortion as something other than what any reasonable, thinking human being with a conscience would call such an act? Or are you spouting by rote mantras supplied to you by the cult religion of liberalism?
It’s not a rose or a duck, brothers and sisters. Abortion is, as Anne Rice stated, “the taking of a human life”. And murder by any other name is Murder.
