Progressive Catholics must take responsibility for federal funding of abortion

Planned Parenthood recently honored abortion heroine Nancy Pelosi for her success in passing legislation that will dramatically expand abortion on demand in America, and provide federal funding of abortions, under the guise of “healthcare reform”.

Apparently inspired by the fact that in creating this incredible windfall for the abortion industry Speaker Pelosi lied to every citizen in America, from members of her own party to the bishops of her church, Planned Parenthood created a brand new award for “practicing Catholic” Pelosi, the Champion of Women’s Health Award. “She’s walked across hot coals for us” beamed PP President Cecile Richards.

And a windfall it will be with newly created Obamacare “high risk insurance pools” in PA, MD, and NM already accessing $5 billion dollars in federal taxpayer funds to provide coverage for elective abortions. Guess who will be providing most of those abortions.

But Planned Parenthood has done a great disservice in not also recognizing the duplicitous efforts of a group of dedicated progressive Catholics who were instrumental in bringing home that wonderful windfall - the “Social Justice Sisters”. Last night, Abortion Incorporated rectified this ungrateful lack of recognition.

Abortion Incorporated (or Ab Inc) is our term for the coalition of clinics, doctors, referral services and interest groups that comprise the billion dollar business that is abortion in America. RadiantCross.org has inadvertently received what is purported to be a partial transcript of Ab Inc’s annual awards banquet.

Transcript Begins

Tonight it is only fitting that we begin by honoring, with a vintage Cristal toast, President Barack Obama who has provided an incredible return on Abortion Incorporated’s investment in his 2008 campaign. Mr Obama is, without doubt, the most incredible “Rainmaker” (wink, wink - crowd laughs and applauds heartily) our industry has ever known (speaker raises glass on high, crowd cheers). The president will, of course, be Ab Inc’s Man Of The Year for the third year running! (band strikes up For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow, crowd chugs Cristal)

Alright, easy folks, we don’t want things to get out of hand like last year- those blow up dolls made up to look like Henry Waxman and Bella Abzug? At Least Not This Early! Right? (sporadic yells and whistles).

Seriously friends, what inspires me most about our friend in the White House are his resilience and cunning. Despite his many successes on our behalf, the president was not able to deliver on the big enchilada, the Freedom Of Choice Act. There just weren’t the cajones in congress for that one. (sporadic boos)

So what happens? Did our guy come running to me whining “Godfather, Godfather, what can I do?” No! He acted like the man we brought and paid for. “Godfather”, he reassured me, “don’t worry. Leave everything to me. I’ll take care of everything”.

And bang! Outta’ nowhere, big Nancy, little Harry and that well preserved Health And Human Services babe smuggle a good many of the provisions of FOCA into a 2,000 page - get this - healthcare reform bill. Nancy and Harry managed to bribe and threaten the thing through congress before anyone could even read it. (standing ovation, champagne bottles pop) This one’s to us folks! (raises glass, more Cristal down the hatch) It pays to buy the best. And I ain’t talkin’ about the champagne! (riotous laughter)

But it was a close one. As you all know, our forsworn enemy the Catholic Church narrowly derailed the whole thing. Their bishops had us cold on the abortion subterfuge and sent a letter saying so to every member of congress. Anti-abortion Catholics, democrats if you can believe it, were gonna block the bill without airtight language prohibiting the use of federal funds to cover abortions. I mean where are our customers gonna get that kind of money these days without uncle? Right?

We needed someone on the inside, inside the Catholic Church, to throw it our way. Well Nanc’, you know, “practicing Catholic” (holds up fingers in quote signs as crowd laughs) Nancy Pelosi? Big Nancy puts in the fix. Nanc’ gets a hold of a couple of big name progressive Catholic social workers, sisters not nuns, and tells them that the bishops have it all wrong. There ain’t any expansion of abortion coverage in the healthcare bill and absolutely no federal funding of abortion. “You wanna’ help the uninsured don’t you” Nancy asks - as if that actually had anything to do with it. “You’re for social justice aren’t you sisters?”

Bingo! They’re hooked. Nanc’ knows that, like her, these progressive social justice sisters have little use for the bishops and are always on the look out for an opportunity to show them up. So they’re happy to take big Nancy’s word on no abortion in the bill and come out with a statement repudiating their own bishops and encouraging Catholics to support Obamacare.

The rest is history and the money from uncle is already starting to flow to clinics in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Mexico. So I think it behooves us tonight to honor the two most prominent social justice sisters who led the way in overcoming Catholic concerns stirred up by the US Conference Of Catholic Bishops’ warning on abortion in the healthcare reform bill. Sister Carol Keehan, of the Catholic Healthcare Association, and Sister Simone Campbell, Executive Director of NETWORK, a social justice lobby which claimed (laughing) to represent 59,000 nuns supporting Obamacare. Oh, right on sisters! (more Cristal, wild cheering, one loud burp)

We couldn’t reasonably expect the good sisters to join us tonight, so I present, in absentia, our newly created Abortion Incorporated Champion Of Social Justice At Any Cost Award to Sister Carol Keehan and Sister Simone Campbell. (scattered polite applause, two glasses drop and shatter)

Thank you sisters, (speech starting to slur) from the bottom of our, uh, greedy little hearts. (slight giggle) Tonight the many arms of Abortion Incorporated can look forward to unparalleled prosper, uh, prosper-ity in the years to come, thanks in large part to your blind, uh, commitments to social justice. Whatever that is.

At any rate business is gonna be good. We’ll probably have to stick another dumpster behind each clinic. (dead silence)

Transcript Ends

We are winning, but the obstacles cans seem overwhelming. Take some time

Eighteen months into the most rabid pro-abortion administration in the dark history of Roe v Wade, the pro-life community has achieved what should have been unthinkable. For the first time since 1973, the majority of Americans stand for the right to life. From conception up to the moment of natural death.

As said previously, we believe that this shift is a backlash directed toward Barack Obama’s ruthless pro-abortion agenda designed to offer completely unrestricted abortion available to women of any age, during any stage of pregnancy. And along those lines, the proponents of the culture of death continue to bring the full force of the federal government, now at their disposal, to bear on those committed to overturning Roe.

So despite the efforts of millions of of pro-life Americans, we are now witnessing a massive expansion of abortion services in our country, and tax payers are being forced to fund abortions, under despicable guise of “healthcare reform”.

At some point the selfless giving in pro-life rallies, marches, seminars, webcasts, blogs, etc drains the last ounce of one’s ability to pursue the good fight. It doesn’t mean we are beaten. Far from it. We just need to step back and let it all go.

At least for a while, hopefully a week or more, life has to be all family, friends and a renewal of the joy of living.

Most importantly we need to restore our weary souls by spending some time, one on one, with Jesus. Trade your yolk for His. Offer up your disappointments, weariness, anxieties and the outright pain in all areas of your life to Him. No one understands the human condition as well as Our Lord, because He loved us enough to become one of us. And after all of the unspeakable suffering Jesus endured to bring us salvation and the path to eternal life, He is still willing to take on our burdens when they begin to seem overwhelming.

It’s an offer we are not meant to refuse. Breathe. Bask in the relief of His peace and love. It’s ours for the asking.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

When you come back remember that God knows the difficulty of the challenge before us. Let Him know, everyday, that we will utilize the talents and resources we have been blessed with in this struggle. Profess, everyday, our faith in Him as our overwhelming, inexhaustible resource and we will obtain victory for countless numbers of His unborn children.

Obamacare medicare cuts leading doctors to drop elderly patients

“Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking the pain killer.”- President Barack Obama

Barely three months after being bribed and threatened through congress, Obamacare is being exposed for the big lie it had always been. Health insurance premiums continue to increase, employer based plans are being discontinued, Obamacare taxes on business burden an already crippled economy, and not one uninsured American will be covered until 2014.

As our president and democratic congressional leaders have always known, socialized medicine has failed miserably in every country in which it has been implemented. And rationing of treatment, beginning with the elderly, followed by the handicapped and chronically ill, is by economic necessity part and parcel of every government healthcare program in existence.

So it begins in America with the Healthcare Reform Act’s well publicized $500 billion in Medicare cuts which will, in effect, lower the cost of Medicare simply by reducing the number of doctors willing or able to treat the elderly.

Since Obamacare’s passage on March 22, thousands of doctors have threatened to drop Medicare patients if the cuts were enacted. Congress hastily rescinded the 21.3 percent cut in Medicare reimbursements scheduled to take effect last week, and passed in it’s place a token 2% pay increase in the reimbursement rate. But the next scheduled cut, coming after the November elections, will likely be a different story.

One of most insidious of the many evils incorporated into socialized medicine is government control of doctors’ fees. The inevitable result is a drastic drop in the number of doctors and the quality of medicine practiced.

In this video from the Heritage Foundation, Dr Martha Boone details how increasing the number of Americans on government health insurance programs under Obamacare may make it financially unfeasible for many doctors to remain in practice.

With fewer doctors willing to accept the only insurance they have available, the elderly will become less of a burden to America’s new government controlled healthcare program in relatively short order. Euthanasia by attrition. And in years to come, Doctor Assisted Suicide will become part of Obamacare’s benefit package. With a scarcity of medical care, a visit from Dr Kervorkian might very well seem to be the most attractive option available. Socialism has little use for the elderly.

Hippocratic oath for our officials
Not one major program or piece of legislation initiated by President Barack Obama, or his democratic congress, has been of any benefit to the nation. Most of the president’s initiatives have, in fact, exacerbated the ills facing the country on the day Mr Obama took office, or created new ones. The worst of these is the dismantling of the finest healthcare system in the world.

If we the people have learned anything from the Obama era it is this. Beginning in 2011, a phrase derived from the original Hippocratic oath must be inserted into the oath of office sworn by any government official: “First, I will do no harm.”

Under those terms, we could have cleaned house in Washington at least half a year ago.

The life of a helpless infant does not equate with taxes and spending

Our series of articles on Bringing Christians Home On Abortion is directed toward this year’s crucial elections. Had just 10% of the Christians who voted for Barack Obama voted their Christian faith on abortion, America would be a different country today. Definitely something to think about.

Abortion has been sold to America as just about everything except what abortion really is. The taking of an innocent child’s life. And the most successful ruse perpetrated by radical feminists and the abortion industry has been to frame abortion as a “political issue”.

Politicizing abortion has served the dual purposes of 1) equating abortion with mundane subjects such as taxes and spending in the minds of the American people, and 2) attempting to intimidate religious leaders and organizations on the grounds of the non-existent principle of “separation of church and state”.

While the pro-abortion lobby’s polarization of America - women versus men, left versus right, democrat versus republican, and Catholics, Evangelicals and Orthodox Jews versus “moderate Christians and Jews” - is political, the taking of a helpless infant’s life is anything but mere politics.

Abortion, in fact, is not a political issue. The American people have never been given the opportunity to vote on any aspect of abortion. Instead of the Roe v Wade mandate foisted upon America by seven judges, imagine the Christian response to a 1973 voter referendum that asked

Given that since 1871 the American Medical Association has held that human life begins at conception, should the government of the United States Of America grant parents the right to terminate the lives of their unborn children by dismemberment, decapitation or poisoning, at any time during pregnancy, for any reason?

Would abortion have been legalized? How would pro-choice Christians, who are supposed to believe that every child is conceived in the image and likeness of Almighty God, vote on such a ballot referendum today?

We ask our pro-choice brothers and sisters to view the following video, in which Father Frank Pavone demonstrates a common abortion procedure.

On what level does the dismemberment of God’s children, your brothers and sisters in Christ, equate with taxes, education or foreign policy?

As for “separation of church and state”, that phrase exists nowhere in our constitution. One of the distant left’s biggest and loudest lies, “church and state” is a misrepresentation of the Non-Establishment Clause, which prohibits the federal government from establishing an official national religion. Nothing prohibits any citizen from allowing their religious beliefs to influence their decisions in the voting booth.

When all else fails, the pro-abortion lobby dusts off the bible and quotes the “render to Caesar” passage.

Jesus does tell us to pay our taxes. But only God creates life, therefore, according to the “render” passage, all life belongs to God. Thus, in the case of an innocent unborn child, the “render” passage actually affirms that “Caesar” has no right to authorize the taking of that child’s life.

Abortion has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with an innocent, helpless child’s right to live. To be spared the inhuman barbarity of the abortion mills, as depicted in Father Frank’s video. No person who claims to profess Christ can reconcile support of abortion with the tenets of Christianity, simply because abortion is one of a hundred planks in a political party platform.

Millions of Christian faithful pray daily for their brothers and sisters who have gone astray on abortion. Praying for you to come home and stand in defense of Jesus’ “little ones”.

But if love and prayer just can’t quite do it, pro-choice Christians might do well to take a moment and envision the future. God, surrounded by the souls of 50 million infants, slaughtered by some of the most barbarous methods imaginable.

And you explaining about separation of church and state.

RE: The Cost Of Your Presidential Pen

Dear Sister Keehan

The fact that President Obama awarded you a Presidential Pen in recognition of your support for “healthcare reform”, would seem to indicate that your public contradiction of the US Conference Of Catholic Bishops on the abortion language in the bill played an important part in making Obamacare the law of our land.

The USCCB recently issued a statement which pointed out that your open break with the bishops “lacked an understanding of these particular issues” and “resulted in confusion and a wound to Catholic unity”.

Now, as the evils nested in those thousands of pages of healthcare legislation are beginning to leak out, it may be an appropriate time for you, Sister Keehan, to reflect upon what your actions have wrought for the American people.

It is quite evident that the bishops, along with millions of pro-life Christians, were correct about the abortion promulgating aspects of the senate healthcare bill. Various loopholes do indeed provide for taxpayer funding of abortions. Mandates require Insurance Exchanges to cover abortion services. Publicly funded Community Health Centers will offer abortion services.

State legislatures are now forced to pass legislation to exempt their states from having to fund the abortion provisions in the bill. States with democratic governors, of course, will not be able to do so. Committed pro-life Christians taxpayers in those states will be forced to fund abortions. And abortions are very likely to increase in such states.

The president’s plan, you said, was too important for the bishops to hold up quibbling over abortion. Where, you asked, was the USCCB’s commitment to “social justice”? The plan, you stated while standing next to VP Biden, would provide insurance coverage for 30 million uninsured Americans.

Much to the surprise of many uninsured Americans, no such coverage will be available until 2014. Healthcare taxes, however, are being levied on businesses resulting in higher healthcare costs. An estimated 14 million (Actuary Office of Health And Human Services) to 35 million (former Director of the Congressional Budget Office Douglas Holtz-Eakin) people are now expected to lose or be transitioned out of their current employer based health plan.

Socialized medicine is not social justice
All of which is inline with the true purpose of the president’s plan, the eventual transition to a single payer, government controlled healthcare system. Socialized Medicine. Unfortunately, Sister Keehan, socialized medicine has failed miserably in every country in which it has been implemented. And, as with every other government controlled healthcare system in existence, rationing of treatment for the elderly, the seriously ill and the disabled will, by economic necessity, become part and parcel of Obamacare in the future. There is no “social justice” in socialized medicine.

Sister we do not question your commitment to the sanctity of life, or your motives. The work done in the hospitals belonging to the Catholic Health Association reflect some of the highest values espoused by the Catholic Church.

But where was your judgment in ignoring the dire warnings of the Catholic bishops and relying on the word of committed pro-abortion zealots Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Kathleen Sebelius? However noble your intentions for aiding the uninsured, you instead aided and abetted in promulgating the greatest social injustice of our time, the taking of innocent children’s lives in their mothers’ wombs. And helped to initiate the dismantling of the finest healthcare system in the world.

Socialism and “social justice” are, to various degrees, interchangeable terms for many liberals and progressives. But as the country goes on from here, Sister Keehan, we ask you to reflect upon your experience with the passage of Obamacare. Please bear in mind that socialism has always viewed religion as an enemy. Unless it can be exploited.

Hopefully you have come to understand the reason you were given that pen. And the cost of that pen to the country.

Prayer is our most important weapon in the struggle to overcome abortion

Our focus this year is on the opportunity offered by the November elections to begin stemming the tide of abortion on demand in a truly significant way. President Obama’s ruthless pro-abortion agenda has focused the nation’s attention on abortion as never before, leading more and more Americans rethink their position on abortion. To this end we have been publishing a series of articles on Bringing Christians Home On Abortion.

This summer Father Frank Pavone of Priests For Life and Dr Alveda King will launch a series of Pro-Life Freedom Rides. “Like the Freedom Rides of five decades ago, these freedom rides symbolize the principle of the greater movement of which they are part, namely, that justice and equal protection of human rights belong to each and every human being, regardless of size or age or any other condition.” The first Pro-Life Freedom Ride is scheduled for July 23 thru 25, beginning in Birmingham, AL and ending in Atlanta. Visit Pro Life Freedom Rides for information on how to participate.

Active participation in events like the Pro-Life Freedom Rides, the semi-annual 40 Days For Life Campaigns and the annual March For Life in Washington is of tremendous importance in raising awareness of the plight of the hundreds of thousands of unborn children lost to the vacuums, surgical instruments and poisons of America’s abortion mills each year. Americans are drawn into the pro-life community and money is raised to fund pro-life organizations.

But there are only a few such events each year, and most of us are unable to actively participate. We all, however, have access the most powerful weapon available in our struggle to overcome abortion. Prayer.

Abortion is a powerful evil perpetrated by Satan, “a liar and the father of liars”. Evil of such depth, like the most powerful demons mentioned in the Gospels, “does not come out except by prayer and fasting”. Every person committed to bringing an end to abortion needs to make daily prayer the focal point of that commitment.

Numerous prayers to bring an end to abortion have been composed. We offer two, one by Father Frank Pavone and one of our own composition.

Prayer to End Abortion In America (Father Frank Pavone)
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son

I commit myself to doing my part in ending abortion and to being active in the pro-life movement
I will never to be silent, never to be passive, never stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected
And our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all
Through Christ Our Lord
Amen

Radiant Cross Prayer To Overcome The Scourge Of Abortion
O’ God, in the Persons of the Most Holy Trinity, hear my prayer for Your Divine Assistance
In our struggle to overcome the scourge of abortion plaguing our nation

I pray to You Eternal Father
For the repentance and conversion of all those involved in the abortion industry
Including our public officials who enable and support abortion in our country

I ask Our Lord Jesus Christ to grant His compassionate forgiveness and merciful healing
To all who have repented of, and grieve for, their participation in abortion

I pray that the Holy Spirit may touch the souls of all women considering abortion
Fill them with a mother’s natural love and joy for the life they carry within
And open their eyes to all the horrible realities abortion entails

Grant, Almighty God, that the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus
May open the hearts and minds of those who have been misled on abortion
And bring all to the defense of Your unborn children
Amen

Pro-choice Christians view abortion as a “benefit” for the poor

In this article of our series Bringing Christians Home On Abortion we will address a common position taken by pro-choice Christian organizations. Their overwhelming concern for the poor is a far more important Christian issue than abortion.

The gospels do recount Jesus’ love for the poor and His admonitions to His followers to care for the poor. And all Christian denominations work to support the poor and to address the root causes of poverty.

But Our Lord was equally concerned for the dignity of the poor and, without doubt, the fate of their souls. As in “Man does not live by bread alone”.

Many, very well intentioned, pro-choice Christians have allowed themselves be led astray by the political argument that abortion is somehow a poverty issue. In that political argument, abortion is framed as a “benefit” to the poor, relieving women or families in poverty from having to care for children they would have difficulty supporting. Some take the argument to the extreme in claiming that an aborted child, whose life is terminated by the vacuums, surgical shears or poisons of an abortion clinic, is actually “better off” than a child who might have to begin life at the poverty level.

This “abortion benefits the poor” argument is, in fact, one which degrades women and families in poverty in the ugliest manner possible. And the problem with pro-choice Christians who are misled by the “poverty issue” argument is that they do not look past their support of “abortion rights” to the very common, detrimental consequences of abortion which especially affect the poor.

The abortion industry exploits the poor
As Christians, we recognize that God created women as His vessels to bring new life into the world. Women are endowed, to varying degrees, with that innate sense of loving and nurturing children we recognize as “maternal instinct”. And a certain portion of a woman’s fundamental self image and self esteem are tied to her natural capability to give life. Most, not all, women instinctively want to bring children into the world, care for them and nurture them into adulthood.

What charity, then, is there in encouraging a woman to terminate the life of her child because of her economic circumstances? And that is exactly what the abortion industry does. Planned Parenthood abortion clinics are predominantly concentrated in low income areas. As a consequence, African American women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women twice as likely.

What does that say to black or Hispanic women, as a class? That their children are more expendable than other women’s. What does it do to their self esteem as women, when they routinely terminate the lives of their children because they are told they are just not “economically viable” enough to care for a child? And what does it say about our society’s concern for them as women and individuals?

Tens of thousands of women can testify to the physical damage done to their reproductive systems as the result of abortion. Hundreds of thousands can testify to the often long term psychological damage, brought on by guilt and depression, commonly experienced by women who have undergone abortions. These feelings of remorse can haunt women for years to come, and in ways they might not necessarily expect. The aftermath of abortion has driven many women into alcohol or drug addiction.

And if poor women undergo the majority of abortions, then it is women already suffering from effects of poverty who suffer most of the physical and psychological after effects of abortion. What aspect of Christian Charity is involved here? Where is the “social justice’?

And most pro-choice proponents, Christian or otherwise, never take take the time to think about the depth of sorrow experienced by men who have lost children to abortion. What does it do to the already deflated self esteem of working poor men, when their wives accept the advice of Planned Parenthood “counselors” to abort their children as the solution to an “economic problem”?

Abortion does not relieve poverty. But far more often than not, abortion intensifies poverty’s feeling of despair and exacerbates it’s misery. Christians truly concerned for the plight of the poor should be standing in the corner of the poor, helping desperate women resist the abortion industry’s encouragement to accept the demeaning act of abortion as a by product of their economic circumstances.

Rather than supporting Planned Parenthood, Christians truly concerned for the plight of the poor should be supporting, or volunteering at, the over 2000 Pregnancy Resource Centers offering clear alternatives to abortion, no matter how dire an expectant mother’s circumstances. Services at these resource centers include pregnancy testing, counseling, parenting classes, complete prenatal care, obstetric services, and, if desired, adoption placement with loving, stable families. Many centers can also provide access to employment services or job training programs. Heartbeat International is the largest group of pregnancy resource centers in America and throughout the world.

We ask only that pro-choice Christians ask themselves if their support of Roe v Wade has ever truly aided the plight of the poor. Or only increased the depth of their despair. Learn for yourself how the abortion industry exploits women in poverty. The frightened, desperate women most vulnerable to persuasion. Take some serious time to reflect upon the horrible ramifications of abortion as they affect the innocent life in the womb, the mother and the father.

Talk to our loving God who bestows life as the greatest of His gifts and ask Him if supporting “abortion rights” is how He wants you to aid your brothers and sisters in poverty. And then just listen.

“Pro-life” Charlie Crist does not want “to impose my will on others”

Small wonder Florida Governor Charlie Crist finds himself a politician without a party. A man lacking principles, convictions and integrity rarely has much of a crowd around him.

Well known as a flip-flopper and double talker, Crist exemplifies the bottom of the barrel politician who muddles his/her position on abortion in hopes of deceiving voters on both sides of the issue. The types are well known. Democrats who are ” pro-choice, but not pro-abortion.” Political flim flam. Voting for legislation that enables abortion is, of course, supporting abortion.

Even lower down the ladder however, are politicians like Charlie Crist who talk the pro-life talk in election years and then promptly walk the other way the following January. And the excuse is always the same. The Noble Cop Out. “I do not want to impose my will on others”.

Running for the US Senate in 1998, candidate Crist declared “I am pro-choice, but not pro-abortion. I believe that a woman has the right to choose”. In 2006, republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist had apparently seen the light on the evils and injustice of abortion, pledging “I’m pro-life. I don’t know how else to say it.”

Florida’s pro-life community took Crist at his word and helped elect him Governor. And now Charlie Crist is walking the other way.

The Florida legislator is forcing pro-life Charlie to put his pen where his mouth was. Lawmakers are forwarding Crist a bill which will test the validity of his pro-life bona fides on two fronts. HB 1143 first overrides the abortion funding mandates foisted on the country by Obamacare. The legislation prohibits health insurance providers from covering abortions in any plan receiving federal or state taxpayer funding. Three states have already enacted similar laws and several others, like Florida, have legislation pending.

Secondly, the bill requires abortion providers to offer women seeking abortions the opportunity to view ultrasound images of their unborn children, and to provide a “description of the fetus, including a description of the various stages of development.” As we outlined in The Resurgence Of America’s Conscience, legislation requiring abortion clinics to provide women with Full And Honest Disclosure on fetal development and the risks inherent in abortion procedures are sweeping the country.

Common sense, common decency, pro-life legislation. Legislation which actually has proven to “reduce the number of abortions in America”.

The Noble Cop Out
But since leaving the republican party, pro-life Charlie has continually implied that he would veto the bill. But what about Crist’s stalwart campaign commitment to defend Florida’s unborn children? “Even though I’m pro-life I don’t want to impose my will on others.”

That phrase was not heard in Crist’s campaign. And Charlie’s high minded nobility will be of little consolation to the babies whose lives would have been spared by HB 1143. Or to the pro-life voters who placed their trust in Charlie Crist.

Asked on Friday if there were anything that would possibly induce him to reconsider, Crist indifferently replied “probably not a whole lot”.

How can such people face themselves in the mirror. Quite easily apparently. Shunned by the republican party, Independent Charlie’s new senate campaign website continues to mislead (that does mean “lie”, doesn’t it?).

Governor Crist believes strongly in the sanctity of life. While Attorney General, Charlie Crist worked with Governor Bush to successfully defend Florida’s Parental Notification law.

Ops, pro-life Charlie neglects to mention the fact that as Attorney General in 2005, Charlie opposed Gov Jeb Bush in the fight to keep Terri Schindler’s husband, Michael Schiavo, from having Terri dehydrated and starved to death. It was AG Crist, personally, who officially ended the state of Florida’s attempt to keep Terri alive.

We won’t publish the URL for Charlie’s new campaign site. Just something about him. Anyone interested can find it. Better yet, attend one of pro-life Charlie’s campaign events and get to know him personally.

Just make sure you know which face you’re talking to.

The 2010 elections can be a critical turning point for America’s unborn

The spring 40 Days For Life Campaign concluded on March 28. During this campaign the lives of 532 babies were known to have been saved as the result of prayer vigils and counseling outreach sessions conducted by campaign volunteers outside abortion clinics. As in previous 40 Day Campaigns, several abortion clinic employees quit their jobs, and one abortion facility closed permanently.

With pro-life sentiment escalating in America, even happier results are expected from this fall’’s endeavor. Undaunted by the opposition of the most pro-abortion White House and congress in the history of Roe v Wade, the pro-life community continues to work tirelessly to the win the war against abortion One Baby At A Time. Every precious life preserved is a victory.

Sadly, the percentage of children saved each year from the vacuums, surgical shears and poisons of the nation’s abortion mills remains small. Approximately one million American children will still be put to death this year, in some of the most barbarous manners imaginable. And 90% of those abortions will be performed strictly for convenience sake.

But the 2010 elections offer the opportunity to begin stemming the tide of abortion on demand in a truly significant way. Hundreds of thousands of children can be saved in the coming years through the initiation of another type of national pro-life campaign. Bringing Christians Home On Abortion.

Despite the non-stop vitriol from hard core feminist groups, Christianity is not a cohesive force threatening “abortion rights” in America. Would that we were.

OMSNBC: Christians are “moving beyond abortion”
In 2008, 53% of voters who described themselves as Christian voted for pro-abortion zealot Barack Obama. Breaking that percentage down, 75% of “non-denominational Christians” supported Mr Obama, followed by 54% of Catholic voters, 44% of non-evangelical Protestants and 26% of Evangelicals.

The Catholic and Evangelical numbers were especially disappointing. The progressive vultures at OMSNBC crowed that 2008 was proof that the “next generation” of Catholics and Evangelicals were “moving beyond abortion” and were more concerned about issues like the environment.

But, as in The Lord Works In Mysterious Ways, it is precisely President Obama’s ruthless pro-abortion agenda that has focused the nation’s attention on abortion as never before. And that focus is leading more and more Americans to stop and rethink their position on abortion. The majority of Americans now consider themselves to be pro-life. Women, especially, are beginning to realize that they have been misled by the democratic party, and it’s patrons in Abortion Incorporated, over the horrible realities of what actually happens during an abortion and the physical and emotional damage suffered by many women who have undergone abortions.

The November elections are likely to be a Waterloo for the liberal progressive agenda. And is it is imperative that we bring as many Christians home on abortion as we possibly can for these elections.

Bringing Christians home on abortion
Abortion has been sold to America as just about anything except what it really is. The taking of a child’s life. The truth of abortion has been clouded by radical feminists and the abortion industry by successfully classifying abortion as a “political issue”. Politicizing abortion has served the dual purpose of 1) equating abortion with mundane subjects such as taxes and spending in the minds of the American people, and 2) attempting to intimidate religious leaders and organizations on the grounds of the non-existent principle of “separation of church and state”.

Carefully crafted euphemisms such as “Family Planning” and “Reproductive Rights” have been incorporated into the American lexicon in order to ease the collective conscience of our country. Even the most committed pro-abortion radicals avoid using the word abortion. Rachel Maddow on OMSNBC is especially fun to watch as she twists grammar into pretzels, substituting almost any word or phrase she can muster to euphemize the “A” word. “Medical procedure”, “legal procedure”, “routine procedure”, “reproductive procedure”, “common medical procedure” and the all encompassing “completely safe and legal medical procedure”.

Like so much of America, many “pro-choice Christians” have simply been misled on abortion. Our Radiant Cross Right To Life blog will be posting a series of articles over the next weeks which will lay bare the euphemisms, dispel the distortions and expose the outright lies foisted upon our country by abortion ideologues and profiteers.

This year can be a major turning point in the fight against Roe v Wade. Even within those Christian denominations that currently support “abortion rights”, or take no official position on abortion, there are pro-life groups or ministries. It is our hope that those groups will work to bring the truth of abortion to their fellow parishioners during the course of this year. Another Supreme Court vacancy is likely within the next six to twelve months, so this year’s senate elections are of critical importance to fate of millions of future American children.

We will not be able to change the heart of every pro-choice Christian in eight months. But imagine if we could convert just 10% of those Christian voter statistics listed above into votes for pro-life candidates in November. It is more than possible if we are willing to confront our misled Christian brothers and sisters with the truth on abortion.

It may seem daunting, but your efforts will be supported by thousands of members of the pro-life community who pray daily for Christians who have gone astray to come home on abortion and stand in defense of Jesus’ “little ones”.

“See that you don’t look down on one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10)

Will pro-life Muslims simply overrun the Christian West?

Dr Michael Savage, PHD, seems to be the 800 pound independent conservative talk show host the talk radio industry pretends doesn’t exist. Many will point to Savage’s often harsh characterizations of other big name talk personalities. And during his occasional binges of megalomania, a little Savage can go a long way.

But at his best, Michael Savage’s insight, on almost any topic, is profound beyond anyone else’s analysis. During a monologue last week on the spread of Islam, Savage wondered if God really cares which religion ultimately triumphs? Comparing Christianity, Judaism and Islam to branches of the same corporation, Savage wonders if God really prefers one to another.

As believers in Christ, we know the answer. Or do we?

Michael Savage is Jewish. Some of his finest moments on the radio arise from relating Old Testament scripture to the modern age. Savage’s analogies can make passages from Deuteronomy or Jeremiah sound as though they were written for 2010. But Doctor Savage is also one of the staunchest defenders of Christianity in talk radio, especially of the beleaguered Catholic Church.

Ardently pro-life, Michael Savage will literally go out of his way to avoid taking the life of an insect. How, Savage asked, does God looks upon the Christians and Jews of the West who participate in, or tolerate, the murder by abortion of millions of His children?

Islam, Dr Savage points out, is fervently pro-life and Muslim birthrates around the world are far outpacing those of Christians and Jews. Will Islam eventually triumph on earth simply because Muslims are faithfully pro-life?

Savage’s conclusion was that God likely does not care which religion ultimately prevails. We are all God’s children.

Outlandish, almost blasphemous, at first thought for we who believe that Christ’s Church is to triumph. But could we ultimately negate the gift of Christianity through our continued lack of respect for God’s greatest gift of life?

Countless human beings, for all the generations to come (those aborted and those would have descended from them), have been lost to the abortion mills. Quite a choice. How long can we expect Almighty God to tolerant the effrontery of abortion? Will His answer simply be to allow those who embrace and/or tolerate the slaughter of His innocents to be overrun by another religion?

No one here is preaching Islam. Jesus is the one and only Son Of God. But if the liberal Christians and Jews of the West continue to shun the gift of children through abortion and contraception, within a century Muslims will become the dominant population in the world. And Islam the dominant religion.

When Jesus comes again in glory, as we know He will, will there be any Christians left to welcome Him?

Christians come home on Life.

Pray for our country and remember that family prayer is especially powerful.
